Tohi Harada took up guitar-playing aged 3 and went on to win more than 10 junior competitions. In 2019, he was awarded 1st Prize at the East End International Guitar Competition in Japan, leading to the opportunity to release his debut album “To-I” in 2020, which received the Recording Prize. In a solo concert in 2021, he performed Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (which was broadcast on Japanese national television) and later that year, came to study in London at the Royal Academy of Music, where he has been the recipient of the Julian Bream Trust Scholarship, for three consecutive years.
Alongside his concert work, Tohi has been participating in international competitions and has won over 15 awards. Some of his notable achievements have been 2nd Prize and the Audience Prize at Aalborg Guitar Competition (Denmark) in 2022, 1st Prize at Albania International Guitar Competition (Albania) in 2023, 1st Prize at Veria International Guitar Competition (Greece) in 2023, “Ida Presti” International Guitar Competition(Croatia) in 2024, Guitar Art International Competition (Serbia) in 2024, Brussels International Guitar Competition (Belgium) in 2024 and Ivor Mairants Guitar Award (UK) in 2025.
He was one of six awardees for the 2025 Yamaha Music Foundation Scholarship – one of the two most prestigious music scholarships in Japan – and is now being generously sponsored by the Countess of Munster Trust, which supports outstanding young talent.

Concerts are held at Brickwall House, Northiam, TN31 6NL (off the B2088), with kind permission of Frewen College. There is free parking with disabled access (and toilets) on site.

Non-members are very welcome to attend concerts but should contact us in advance to confirm ticket availability.
