The distinguished Piatti Quartet – Michael Trainor (violin) Emily Holland (violin) Miguel Sobrinho (viola) and Jessie Ann Richardson (cello) – are widely renowned for their “profound music making” (The Strad Magazine) and their “lyrical warmth” (BBC Music Magazine). Following prizewinning performances at the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, they have performed world-wide, with numerous international broadcasts. The Piattis are the resident string quartet at King’s Place and are famed for diverse programming and passionate interpretations including commissions and recordings of new works added to their impressive canon in recent years.
Recent accolades include 5-star BBC Magazine reviews for 2023 Mark-Anthony Turnage: Winter’s Edge, 2024 Joseph Phibbs: Quartets and Ned Rorem: Choral Works with St. Martin’s Voices, a Presto Music Award as one of the “Top 10 Recordings of the Year 2023” and a nomination for “Recording of the Year” with both Limelight and Gramophone Magazines, for their 2022 collaborative album with Nicky Spence and Julis Drake “On Wenlock Edge”, which was also singled out as one of the top 20 Ralph Vaughan Williams’ recordings of all time by Gramophone Magazine.
The quartet’s name is dedicated to Alfredo Piatti, a 19th Century virtuoso cellist who was a professor at the Royal Academy of Music (the alma mater of the founders of the quartet).

Concerts are held at Brickwall House, Northiam, TN31 6NL (off the B2088), with kind permission of Frewen College. There is free parking with disabled access (and toilets) on site.

Non-members are very welcome to attend concerts but should contact us in advance to confirm ticket availability.
